Access to different news server

Postby Sting » Dec 05 03 5:34 am

I am using WinGate 5.2 on Win2k/SP2 (upgraded today; 5.1 was running just a week with at least one connection loss daily; before 5.0.7 ran for 3 months without a problem).
According to the wingate help file I created a connection to my internet provider's news server with a TCP Mapping service. Outlook express 6 adresses the WinGate computer as the news server and that works just fine.
Now for some newsgroups I have to adress another news server (and in the future even some more). Is there an elegant way to adress different news server with WinGate?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi

That help file section must be pretty old.

The best way now normally to access news servers is using the NAT in WinGate. This doesn't require any TCP mapping services to be configured in WinGate, just set the default gateway in your client machines TCP/IP properties to be the IP address of the WinGate server, and then connect directly in your news reader to whichever news servers you wish to.
