I have been using wingate for a fairly long time and have noticed in the past few months surfing has become very slow. but it's still quick on the server itself. I have 4.5.2 installed. The clients all use proxy settings in IE. i have tried to change settings like cache and such without luck. is there something you could suggest i look at?
Is the number of users license for concurrent users?

How big has your web cache in wingate become?
We are releasing a new verion of WinGate 5.2 this week (5.2.2). Are you aware you can use this new version with your existing 4.x key? This has several bug fixes included. I would hold off upgrading until we release this version however, as 5.2 currently has an issue for some users with POP3 retrieval.
As for your final question, yes, the licensing is for concurrently connected users.

i thought i wasn't using cache, it seems a long time ago i was told a few steps to go through to clear it out like delete a few folders and such. is there a paper you could point me to to get those instructions, if you think that would help.
is that true about the 4.x key woking for 5.x? is that temporary or permanent? meaning will it expire? i had convinced myself long ago not to bother with the updates because i always seemed to cause more problems than i fixed, is this a fairly safe upgrade or may i end up regreting it?

It's true!
You get the same great WinGate in it's latest version, minus the SMTP server (and couple extra goodies, I think) at no upgrade cost!
Doesn't expire that I know of.
Are these great people or what?
