I have 2 XP computers, one wingate 5.0 main program & the other wingate client.
Sometimes the wingate works(that is the client downloads pages from the net - other times like now it isn't!!!).
I see activity in the Wingate Gatekeeper 's Activity window (the page I was trying to download from the client in the main wingate program).
How to make Wingate client work?

Is the WinGate machine connected to the internet at the time?! Can you surf from the WinGate machine?! Can you surf if you configure the client to use direct proxy rather than the WGIC?! Are Transparent Redirects turned on in the WWW Proxy?! Do you have any policies set up in WinGate to restrict access?! On the WGIC machine have you manually selected your WinGate server or is it set to find it automatically?!

Hi Niel!
Actually I am not online now.
If you read this than these are the answers to your questions.
I have installed version 5, without any type of configuration.
I have one IP address 192.168.0.1 on the main machine,
the other machine is using 192.168.0.2 (client) both running win XP machines.
I was using the client to download pages & suddenly I can't anymore!!!
If you have solid suggestions to where I can fix this problem since I need to browse the interent from the client machine.
Thanks.

How do I surf the interenet from Wingate mach?
How do you set a direct proxy? IP of main machine?
Where is www proxy?
Where can I see restrict policy on wingate?
On the WGIC machine it is automatic but it can be changed.

To set up a direct proxy connection, firs make sure that under the services tab in Gatekeeper you can see a WWW Proxy Service. If this is present, then on the Client machine disable the WGIC, and in IE go to Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN Settings. Here you can enter a proxy. You should put in here the IP address of the WinGate machine (so 192.168.0.1 in your case) and the port for the WWW Proxy service. By default this is port 80. Now OK your way out. When you next try to go to a web site IE should use the proxy rather than the WGIC. If this works, then it is a WGIC problem you have, if this doesn't work, then it may be a WinGate problem.
To restrict use in WinGate can be done via policies, either globally, or per service. This is a very large area of WinGate, so should probably wait until after you have it all working!:-)

Neil
