Wingate problem (proxy/intercept/NAT)

Postby Humberto » Jan 16 07 5:15 am

I got a client who has been using WG for a while now.

It was ok and something happened that screwed all the configurationon WG.

First, I´ve been using NAT and port 80 interception on the proxyso we can use the ban list.

All of a sudden the computers are using only the NAT connection to open the pages.

It´s like the proxy interception has stopped working for some reason, and so the ban list is not active anymore.

I did a test and decided to disable the NAT and even Extended networking, but even if I do that and configure a machine to use a proxy server with the right IP and port the browser is unable to open the pages.

The same thing happened with port 25 for the e-mails. The smtp mapping that was working on port 25 is active but the computers are unable to send the messages.

When I check the activities on wingate it doesn´t receive any request on port 25 to send teh messages, but the e-mail software reports a problem and can´t send anything.

Right now everything is running behind the NAT. It´s working, but we need the ban list as a priority.

Any help or advice?
Humberto

try changing the WWW proxy Server to a different port number; it may be that you have installed IIS, and it has also put in a SMTP service.
