The company I'm doing work for has moved into a shared office. The people in the new office have plenty of spare network capacity and spare broadband allowances and offered my company the use of both.
The existing network uses a patch panel with a 3Com switch, network and telephone ports. They connect to the Internet via Wingate (v2.5!!). I think the network addresses are in the range 10.0.0.x.
'Our' network uses addresses 192.168.19.x and a workgroup name of 'Workgroup' (I didn't set it up originally!).
I have connected our network via wall points to the panel using ports the other company said we could use. Our server is connected to our hub, and all the ports we are using also connect to the hub. This is all working.
However, I cannot see how to get our computers connecting to their Broadband access, other than to use a 2nd NIC in each of our computers and addressing them as per the original network using their workgroup (or domain) name. Am I correct? (All our computers already have a 2nd NIC as that is how they connected to Broadband in their previous office.)
I presume that if I can find out the IP of their Broadband router I can tell our computers to use that?
Our computers use Windows98, 2000 Pro and XP. Will Wingate v5x client work with their v2.5? I cannot change their setup although I have recommended upgrading to the latest version of Wingate.
Hope someone can help!
Thanks
Jackie
