Wingate serious problem! Plz Read and Help!

Dec 13 03 7:59 am

Hi!

I was using this machine to share internet with 30+ machines:

Cel 433 128 mb ram 40gb hd ZX PRO Mobo, Win98 SE

I though it was a problem with the machine, so i changed with that:

Duron 1400 Mhz, 128mb ram, 40gb 7200 rpm hd. M810DLU Mobo, WinME

I still have the same problem. After some hours of use, the machine starts to get odd and slow. The mouse pointer get constant lock-ups (1-2 sec lock-up), i get noise in the speakers and the very odd thing! the time is getting late! so with a client machine and server machine starting with the same time (12:00 AM ex) after some hours, the client have normal time (6:00Pm ex) but the server with wingate installed is late (5:35PM ex).

Anyone already got this problem? I need help! :(

Thks!

SO this only happens when WinGate is installed?! Or is it on the client machines with WGIC?! Is there any activity through WinGate (assuming its your server machine) when the machine starts to slow down?! To me it sounds like more of a power supply kind of issue than a WinGate one, but if you tell us more about your set up we can look in to it further.

Neil

Thks for the answer

The problem happen only in the server. The wingate activity in intense because there are 30+ machines there...

Its not power supply, as i said i changed the server with a completely new one (Cel 433 to Duron 1400) new 450W power supply...

Which version of WinGate are you running?! Are you using the VPN component?! There was an issue along time ago with the VPN that may cause your mouse to slow down, but this was with a version released over a year ago. What is the memory and CPU usage like when thisproblem starts to occur?! Is Gatekeeper open?! Does this still happen if there is no traffic going through the WinGate machine?!

Neil

Im using version 5.2.0

The problem appears to be related to ENS, because some time ago i was using version 5.0.7, this version was causing crashes (blue screen) on the computers. When 5.1.0 came, this kind of problem dissapeared, but now i have problem with machine slow down...

Maybe is something related to firewall or authentication, because i get a lot of firewall attempts blocked and authentication messages...

hi!

when it get´s slow, check out the cpu time to see if there is any process collapsing it. Anyway, have you thought about getting some professional software like winxppro or win2000pro? it wouldn´t be strange to see win98 o ME falling down against any multitask activity...

bye!
