Cable and ADSL on the same machine

Postby munir_antun » Oct 14 03 12:57 pm

I would like to have my wingate server working with two interfaces: one cable modem and one ADSL modem. Can you help me configure that ?

These are the main reasons to do that:

1- I would like to use the cable modem as the standard connection.

2- The ADSL connection would be a backup connection. This is one could be used with less demanding jobs like messenger services and others.

PS.: For the ADSL connection I am using the RASPPOE software protocol, even so I must click on a box everytime I log on the ADSL provider.

Currently WinGate has simple multiple connection handling. One way to achieve what you want is with the proxy Interfaces tab.
For instance, you could make FTP and RTSP for instance use the ADSL, while other traffic will use the cable.
WinGate can rotate connections between different interfaces, tho this will not achieve wha you need.

The good news is that our upcoming versions of WinGate have advanced connection throttling that will be ideal for your needs.

I want to run both adsl and cable to the same box with both in use concurrently and Wingate managing the (20 user) LAN traffic.

Is this going to happen with the current release (5.2) or will the 'advanced connection throttling' be the toy I need.

I want to achieve "failsafe" ISP service.
