Load Balancing??

Jun 16 07 11:15 pm

Hello,

I have two internet connections, one is a DSL connection(over dsl router),
and the other is a DailUp connection(via usb modem).
How can i setup WinGate so that i can use the connections simultaneously.
My system is WinXp Pro SP2.

You can configure gateway use for HTTP proxy, for one.

If you setup gateways in rotation, how will WG handle connections like sites that maintain sessions(banking, etc.)? We've been using a load balancing router but such sites cause the user to logout and we then have to setup static router through one gateway to that site.
If WG could rotate connections, but maintain a user<->site relationship (for secure sites only) over one gateway, it would be the perfect load balancing tool. I know of quite a bunch of people that would purchase WG even if it's just for that reason.
I say secure sites only, because you still want to load balance other sites to get max bandwidth.
Is it possible in WG or maybe in development?
Thanks

You can configure seperate proxies for standard and secure connection in all major internet browsers, so why not create a second proxy on a different port for secure connections and configure this proxy to use the gateways in priority order (failover).

Standard connections will rotate out the two gateways while SSL connections will go out one, keeping the SSL sessions intact.
