Shared access stopped after registering product

Postby marcosjp » Dec 19 03 2:37 am

I was happily using Wingate in trial mode and everything was working fine. I bought a licenced and as soon as I received the key number and inserted in GateKeeper, nothing works.

Gatekeeper shows two messages:

New Interface Detected
A new interface (192.168.0.1) has been detected and automatically had default bindings set for it.

New Interface Detected
A new external interface (169.254.160.33) has been detected and automatically had default bindings set for it. If a service had its bindings set to "Allow any" then connections FROM the Internet will now be possible. This is a possible security risk.

Well, this 169.254.160.33 is the IP for the network card I'm using to connect my DSL modem.

Everything WAS working fine until I inserted the license number. I have one other computer (192.168.0.2) connected to this main one to share the DSL connection. Now I cannot share anymore.

Please, help!

Hi Marcos,

Don't post your license details, but can you tell me what kind of license it was you purchased ?

Secondly, those interfaces are configured correctly ?

192.168.0.1 - Private - Trusted
169.254.160.33 - Public - Untrusted

Hi,

Thank you for your attention.

Actually now Wingate is back, working normally again. I did not understand what happened - maybe the client machine wingate needed a restart or something - I tried lots of different things (no changes in configs) and eventually succeeded in making it work again. I just don't know how I did it. :-)

As you asked, my license is an upgrade from 3.0 (3 users) to Wingate Plus 5.0 (also 3 users).

Thank you.

Congratulations. If you find out what was wrong, let us know, please ?

Compliments of the season,
