login user setup question

Postby oig01 » Oct 30 07 7:22 pm

We have a day, swing and graveyard shift in our production dept. using one computer to look up 401k, health insurance and doing training via the internet. The proxy ip/port will be set in the IE7 proxy settings and hidden from user access.

My setup idea is to have one group for each shift setup in Wingate (ie. pday, pswing, pgrave). Within each group have about 3 generic uid's (ie. pday1, pday2, pday3). Each user would check in and checkout the uid and pass with the supervisior before they can use the internet.

My question is, it possible for the password to dynamically change after each usage or after a certain time frame. If not then can the production supervisior login into wingate via a web interface to change the password as soon as the user checks in.

Another idea I have is perhaps change the password once a month, but when a user logs into the proxy service to use the internet they get redirected to a php custom page that asks for their employee ID and if its authenticated then they can continue browsing and I will have recorded their employee id within say an microsoft access database.

Hi

winGate 6.x wont do the redirects like that - we have that feature working in the lab for WinGate 7.

One thing you could do is use a windows user database - i.e. if you're running an active directory, get users to use that for web access and you can control password policies through AD, e.g time them out etc.
