WinGate license issue

Postby Naki » Nov 07 07 2:24 am

My PC sometimes BSODs upon shutdown. It works fine otherwise, no BSODs while working, only sometimes at shutdown.

Now, after such a BSOD I restarted my PC, and WinGate says that "Your WinGate is currently unlicensed." When I go to the License management screen, instead of showing my two licenses (one Trial, one Paid) as "Active" (the Paid one) and "Expired" (the Trial one), it shows them both as "Invalid".
* If I click on one of the licenses, I get this text: "The selected key is not a valid activation file for this computer."

* When I try to add my license, WinGate says that the license is already being used on another PC.
What do I do now? I paid over $100 for WinGate (bought in March 2007) and I need it to work.
Thanks in advance!

Try deactivating and then activating the paid license - most probably when this last BSOD happened, your fiel system got caught in unstable state and damaged some files.

I can't do that. The Reactivate and Deactivate buttons are grayed out (disabled), and when I click any of the the two license keys I get this text in the lower part of the screen - "The selected key is not a valid activation file for this computer."

Is there a way for QBik to deactivate the license key from their side?

NOTE: I wanted to post a screenshot, but the forums don't allow that.
I'll try to make a text description - the window caption says
[Qbik License Viewer]
under that, it says:
Installed Licenses
The following licenses are installed on your computer.
License ||| Product ||| Status
73AC...-....-...U03J... | WinGate | Invalid
3QWJ...-....-...U03J... | WinGate | Invalid
under that, it says:
The selected key is not a valid activation file for this computer.
then, there are the following buttons:
Help ....| Reactivate (disabled) | Deactivate (disabled) | Add new | Close

Yes, we can manually deactivate the licenses for you from here. Can you create a new ticket in the Qbik Helpdesk and include your license details for the licenses you need deactivated with it.

Hello, thanks, I just did.
I didn't enter the license into the message body, I entered it into the appropriate License text box. I hope that's OK...

Thanks!

Any tips on avoiding such cases in the future?
I assume if I back up some files and/or settings, I can recover from an "Invalid license" error in the future. Maybe I need to backup the .LIC extension files in WinGate's folder? Will that be enough?

we're close to launching our new website, which has a customer login, and gives you the ability to deactivate your licences on line.
