Basic Authentication

I'm trying to use the Basic Authentication (not the Java one) for a proxy service I enabled in Wingate. How does the client authenticate using this method as I don't seem to be prompted anywhere to authenticate when I try to connect to a website for the first time through the proxy.

If I need to open additional ports on the WinGateserver, please let me know which ports need to be opened.

I deleted my cookies and restarted the desktop I'm testing from and it is now working as expected.
