Port 80 for WWW not working on browser

Postby andy » Dec 24 03 3:19 am

Im using NAT in our intranet and all the clients can browse correctly but WITHOUT filling the PORT 80 on the Proxy configuration.
The problem is that some programs use HTTP proxy but I cannot leave the port blank because If I do it the default port is 0 and it does not work.

Anyway if I put port 80 on the browser it is impossible to navigate.
I left the default values in WWW service (it is supposed to be port 80).
What am I doing wrong?

1. Can you specify a port number in the applications themselves, or do they use the IE settings ?

2. Are the rights configured correctly on the WWW proxy service ? Do you get any indication of what might be happening from the log files ? (Switch on debug logging for the WWW Proxy Service and try again - have a look in the WWW Proxy Service log file and email it to me - or post a portion of it here)

3. Are you using Transparent Redirection ? I don't know if this will help, especially if the application is trying to make it's request on port 0 ... but it might be worth a shot.
