Hi
I was wondering what the correct way to configure wingate on a Windows 2003 server that hosts the active directory for my domain. Should I use wingate for DNS & DHCP or wingate ? etc.
Thanks

All Domain members and DCs must use the Win2k3 DNS Win9x machines accepted but I recommend that even thet use the Win2k3 DNS. Active Directory DNS is much more secure than ANY other DNS, and only the AD DNS server will have the domain controller SRV records need for domain authentication. It also supports DDNS for machines that need to register in DNS.
As for DHCP, the Win2k3 DHCP supports the necessary API's for domains and can also register legacy clients that do not support DDNS such as Win9x and NT4.
Set up DHCP on the Win2k3 using at the minimun of these option;
003 Router (Defalt Gateway give it the IP of the Wingate Private NIC)
006 DNS server (assign the IP of the Win2k3 DNS server)
015 DNS Domain name (use the DNS name of the AD Domain as seen in ADU&C)
081 (DDNS)To configure this option right click on the machine name in the DHCP console choose properties, select ther DNS tab select check "Automatically update DHCP client information in DNS" You can choose always update or only if the client requests
Add these if you use WINS:
044 WINS Server addresses
046 Node type (commonly 0x8 = H node)
