How to show site name instead of ip in Activity

Postby ali07 » May 09 08 10:23 pm

I hav installed Wingate 6.2 and configured my network pc's to obtain ip. They are running the net well using main server and wingate is showing all the activities on the Activity tab but it shows the ip address of the site opened on the clients instead of website name. I cant recognize the site that is opend. Is there any setting required?

Hi,

In that case they are using NAT to make a direct connection to the Internet.

I can think of three ways you could work around this.

1. In the WWW Proxy server enable Transparent Redirection, this will show the FQDN they are hooking up to. [All done at Wingate, no need to configure client pc's]. WWW Proxy --> Sessions --> Enable Intercepts or thereabouts Port 80 // 3128 etc.

2. Use a proxy script to determine how the client connects. {There is a lot of stuff on the Internet about creating a Proxy.pac AutoConfiguration file}.

3. Force the clients to use a Proxy for all traffic, both 2 // 3 require configuration at the client pc and or Group Policy to restrict them changing back to direct connection.

Hope this helps.

Hi, what you could do is to click on the WWW proxy Server --> Sessions --> Enable Transparent Redirection.

Also check the adaptor usage in the Network tab for correct Internal / External interfaces with your network.
