Incoming Connection Dropouts

Postby varrius17 » May 21 09 10:33 am

Just updated to Wingate 6.5.2, being used as proxy server (Firewall off). I have a user who remotes in on a mapped port to a specific machine. Starting this week we are seeing this connection drop out frequently. Checking the log I see connection failures like these:
05/20/09 05:58:50 xx.116.37.74 Guest 0000002237 Error: Caught socket exception in CTCPMappingSession::Initialize() Connection to Remote Host timed out - terminating
05/20/09 05:58:50 xx.116.37.74 Guest 0000002237 Error: Caught socket exception in CTCPMappingSession::OnRead() Socket Error 10057 - terminating
05/20/09 05:58:50 xx.116.37.74 Guest 0000002237 Traffic 0 0 0 0 21s
05/20/09 05:59:45 xx.116.37.74 Guest 0000002242 Error: Caught socket exception in CTCPMappingSession::Initialize() Connection to Remote Host timed out - terminating
05/20/09 05:59:45 xx.116.37.74 Guest 0000002242 Error: Caught socket exception in CTCPMappingSession::OnRead() Socket Error 10057 - terminating

Wingate 6.5.2 running on Win2K SP4. The error is frequent and kicks the remote user out.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular error?

Thanks,

Fred

Hi Fred,

Can you try installing the following build of WinGate. I believe it will fix the problem you are experiencing.

Logan,

Unfortunately I am still having the same symptoms as previsously described after applying the latest build:

Hi Fred,

You said "Starting this week we are seeing this connection drop out frequently". Can you remember what changed when the problem started happening and is that change reversable?

Logan,

That would have been when we updated to 6.5.2. M-soft update patches were applied that day as well. What would be the procedure for downgrading to a previous wingate version? Save the config to a file out of gatekeeper, uninstall, install the older version, restore the config from the aforementioned file?

For a downgrade from 6.5.2 to 6.2.2, you can simply install 6.2.2 over the newer version as they are similar enough to do this. We still recommend backing up your settings before performing any upgrading or downgrading just in case something does go wrong.

To backup your WinGate configuration:
- GateKeeper -> Options -> Advanced -> Save Registry Settings
