Max NAT: TCP connection

Postby engineerzg » Mar 09 08 8:09 pm

I use wingate 6.1.1. In my network have more than 20 computers, but when someone uses P2P program to download (like utorrent or azureus, ..), my network become slower than usual, I tried to use banwidth controller to control max down and up of those computers but nothing improve. When i check gatekeeper, each computer use P2P program use more than 100 connections to my computer, i think this is problem. So anyone can show me how to max NAT: TCP connection ? like each Com have only 30 connections. I use XP Sp2 and i patched limit connection.

Ps: sorry for bad english

what i did is to block most unused port and just leave the common used port like "80,5050,msn port... etc"

Why not replace the patched stack with the original to limit them to 10 simultaneous?
Whatever you used to patch it should have made a copy of tcpip.sys first. Should be right in %windir%\system32\drivers.
Or re-patch the new one to 30.

I think this will be addressed in the new Wingate 2008, soon.

Client should have NAT access to use P2P software to download files. So, I wonder if we can stop user using NAT. Is it ok?

Also, when applying bandwidth control for P2P, you must enable controlling of the Max TCP Window. This is because P2P is often made up of many small downloads rather than a single large download. You want to control the maximum window of bandwidth for all the downloads, rather than controlling the bandwidth for each download individually.
