Network Error: Can't Log into Gate Keeper

Postby zidlicky » Jun 15 09 12:14 pm

Running wingate on local machine using vista 32 bit o/s. I installed the v6.6.1 and it was working fine initially because I was able to log in and adjust my settings in gate keeper. Somewhere down the line I adjusted too many settings because now I can log into GK, but I can't adjust the major settings and I get a blank GK control panel without the normal tabs at the bottom. Only a blank system message tab shows up. Also, when I check version number it says WIn 95. Why is this after I downloaded the latest version? At this point the only thing that I can do is adjust account details for my local machine which are set correctly. Any suggestions?

When you log in to the GateKeeper and get a blank screen, that denotes that the user account which was used to log in does not have administrator privileges. At some point while configuring WinGate, you might have accidentally removed your own administrator privileges.

What user database did you configure WinGate to use? The WinGate user database, or a Windows user database (local or remote)?
What user are you logging into GateKeeper with? Administrator, or other?

Logan,
Here is my latest remote log file:

06/14/09 23:51:36 Service stopped
06/15/09 00:58:24 Service started
06/15/09 00:59:05 Authorisation failure: NAT STATUS: firewall block: UDP src 125.1XX.147:11155 dst 99.x.x.xx.17:30x53
etc,
etc,
etc. Same NAT status everytime I try to log in.
Removed firewall block completely-still no luck. All I can tell you is that I have logged in sucessfully on the initial install, and now out of the blue I can't. Setup was done with windows local server and my windows user and pass has never been changed. When I place these variables or check off the 2 boxes (windows login/local machine) in the 'online options 'box, still no luck.
One other note: My logs do indicate that I tried to adjust user names but no transitions went through and no change was actually made, so my initial user settings should work.

06/14/09 02:00:17 127.0.0.1 XXXXon 0000000009 Failed authorisation: Modify user Administrator

This one has got me really puzzled and should clear with my origanal settings.
By the way, and for everyones sake who is installing for the first time: When setup as a local windows server the 'log on to local machine ' box should always be checked? Could you please clarify for everybody when passwords should be filled out or boxes checked. Greyed out or not, nothing is initiating WG in my case. Thanks.
