Hi Guys,
I upgraded from 6.2 to 6.6.1 and have a niggle. This is the case with the released version and the version supplied by Adrien in my posting on DNS as per
http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=39800It has affected two network devices, one a laptop and the other a PS3. They both exhibited the same problem in as much as they dont get an IP address. In wingate, I reserve IP by Client MAC so that I know exactly who has what. An inspection with wireshark shows that the devices send out a DHCP discovery but I see nothing come back from Wingate and as I said, they end up falling back to the default (MS or Sony IP).
Have you changed how this works because its apparently come on since I upgraded.
Many thanks,
Neil

Hi Neil
I didn't think we'd changed anything that should cause that.
Are you able to send the capture in to our support desk at
support@wingate.com please, I'll see if there's anything about the request that may be causing issues.
Regards
Adrien

Appologies for the lack of response, been on vacation :-) and now back at work :-(
I'll capture a trace and post it as requested.

you can probably force the issue using ipconfig from the command line. To force a client to re-acquire an address with DHCP (presuming it's configured to use DHCP), from the command line type:
ipconfig /release
then
ipconfig /renew

Hi Neil
I think I may have just found an issue. Did you have any luck with the packet capture?

Again Applogies, my boss keeps putting work in my way.
I had tried the release and renew prevously a number of times and it made no difference. In the end, I set the client IP addresses fixed as per the MAC allocation I had in the DHCP server.
I see you have fixed an issue so I propose this. I'll download the new code and install it this weekend. I'll set the troublesome clienst back to DHCP and report on the findings.
Sorry, I have been less than useless in try to help resolve this. Given that its also my proffession, I like to provide as much help as I can.
