Guest Proxy-Access altough User-auth. is enabled :-?

Postby rayden5_ » Feb 16 04 9:50 pm

Hi ,

i experiece some strange bevaviours of our WinGate 5.2.2 lately:

In my WWW-Proxy i ssetup some Group for Internaccess, added all users I want to use Internet to this group and added this group as user to the WWW-Proxy Service. Additionally i set "Systemplolicies disbaled(ignored)".

Workded fine. But somehow today i have seen one station is able to surf the interent w/o being authetificated. In GateKeeper the Station is GREY withouth any Username next to it. And in the History all request are proccessed as GUEST user.

2nd thing which is weird i have seen some station being authentificated but in the next second this station switched to GREY and [ASSUMED: NONE] and still could access the Internet also with the Guest account.

I definitely only have one user assumed by IP ( a other one) and Systempolicies are for 100% ignored for WWW-Proxy, and my usergroup has to be authetificated, so WinGate is supposed ALWAYS ask for a Username and dont let GUEST acc. access the Net, or iam wrong there ?

I now wonder if there is something messed up with the configuration or if this si just some wrong display :-?

Thx
Heiko

can you see in the history exactly what is happening? It is possible that this user is only using WinGate for DNS or something (which completes normally very quickly) which could be why the machine always shows up as grey. they could be getting their actual access another way, like via their own dialup, or through another gateway?
