WInGate and Mozilla firebird

Postby dpmwingate » Feb 17 04 11:21 pm

Using Windows XP Prof and Wingate, how can I filter/disabled/enable internet access to a user who installs Mozilla Firebird? He can configure his own proxy (172.26.01 which is the gateway) and not going through my IP (172.26.0.2). What should I change in the configuration in Wingate?
Thank you,
Diego

Hi Diego

From your description it sounds as if the client is using an alternative PC to access the Internet (172.26.0.1). Unfortunately there is nothing WinGate can do to prevent this unless you force your client to strictly use the WinGate server for Internet access.

If using the client is using WGIC( WinGate Internet Client) it is possible to restrict the applications which clients can use to access the Internet. There is a knowledge base article on our website about this under the WinGate Internet Client section.
