2 gateways

Postby avb » Aug 27 13 11:18 pm

Hi,

I begin to work with wingate. Actually the proxy is installed on a server with 2 network interfaces Cards. Wingate is started on these two interfaces.
One is connected to an SDSL link, the other connected to an ASDL link.I want all the http/https traffic be send to the ADSL. In case of ADSL default I want to redirect the http traffic to the first link.

Thats why,i want to use wingate policy to have this scenario :

Connection to a website ( for example: http://www.google.fr) on the ADSL gateway --> if requets OK --> use the ADSL Link --> if request Failed --> traffic redirect to the first gateway.

Is it possible to create this policy and how?

thank you

Hi

you can set which gateway to use in WinGate flow-chart policy.

If the clients are set to use the proxy, then the https traffic will be set up using the ConnectRequest event, rather than the ProxyRequest event (unless you're using https inspection).

To set a gateway from policy, use a expression evaluator, and set

Session.Gateway = "192.168.0.254"

or whatever the IP address of the gateway is. Uncheck "Resolve expression into true / false result"

As for fall-back, that's problematic. Normally if a connection fails, if WinGate is monitoring it (Extended Networking, general, monitor for dead gateways), then it wouldn't be scheduled in gateway policy, but this flow-chart policy bypasses that. On connection failure, you don't get a second chance, or an event that says the connection failed to give an opportunity to try another one.

Looks like we need to create a gateways tab policy item (e.g. like the connection control one).

Ok thank you for the session.gateway item.
But for the first part of my scenario ,how can i build my policy to simulate an http request to know if a website is up or down ?
