Multi Node SMTP

Postby MarkG » Oct 31 13 9:50 am

I'm using GateKeeper 6.6.4. Is is possible to create more than one SMTP Service on a single server. By that I mean I'd like two SMTP Servers running. One on say, port 25 that works without TLS that send mail directly to recipient's email server. Another on say port 26 that does use TLS to send through our ISP. I hope I'm explaining that understandably.

Thanks.

Hi

the port number / TLS is related to reception of mail. Once the mail is received and processed through the queue, the delivery is a different deal altogether.

There's no way to separate it out. Also with WinGate 6 or 7 you can only have 1 SMTP server. WinGate 8 allows you to have any number of SMTP servers, but again these are just for receiving mail, and all delivery is done by a single service.

WinGate can do a bunch of things relating to how it sends to different servers though.

If you can figure out which mail you want to go via ISP, and which you want to go direct, if it's based on destination domain, you could set up some "servers" in the email settings to override delivery, and override delivery options (such as using STARTTLS etc).

Another option may be to deliver undeliverable mail to the ISP gateway - in the delivery settings in the Email settings dialog. Then that mail that can go directly will do so.

Regards
