RDP into Wingate Proxy lab

Jul 30 14 4:01 am

I have the following basic network layout:

Internet –> Hardware f/w –> LAN (with Win8.1 PCs) -> Proxy server (Wingate) -> Proxy lab

I would like to enable RDP connections into at least the Wingate server from the LAN. However it looks like WinGate is blocking the connection, how can I allow RDP connection to the wingate server itself fro the LAN?

Follow up Q: Is there an easy way to allow RDP connections from the LAN to 3 VMs within the proxy lab?

HI

WinGate would only be blocking the connection if the LAN adapter is set to external, or the default action for the port security is set to deny for LAN connections to WinGate.

You can open a hole for RDP, just set an entry in the relevant port range table for port 3389 set to allow. The relevant port range depends on adapter settings.

If set to Internal, then table is LAN to WinGate computer
if set to external, then the table is Internet to WinGate computer

To access RDP to VMs inside the proxy sub network, a typical approach is to set up port range table entries to forward 3 different ports to the port 3389 on each of the back end servers. Then you connect to WinGate's LAN IP but on the port matching the back end server you want to access.

Thanks you make it sound simple. It not that simple but I have it working and learn a new trick too.
