Hi,
Since I have upgrade to windows 2012, Wingate services stops regulary (at least once a day)
I get this error in log files
Caught socket exception in CWWWSession::OnRead() reading from client error 10038 [Not a socket {Thd 5072} [socket #FFFFFFFF]] - terminating
Exceptions occure in HTTP Proxy Service (i just set log level to debug to get more informations).
Any idea ?
Best regards

Hi
are you getting a lot of DNS errors? Check in the DNS client log files (maybe being logged to global unless you set the client to log to its own file).
Normally we find the most common problems involve DNS, for instance using a server that doesn't have forwarders set (common in ADs), or using an ISP DNS server that is failing, or rejecting requests etc.

I was getting a lot of "NAT STATUS: spoofed packet discarded"
I have disabled 'Discard spoofed packets' in Externded Network/Firewall setup
No crash since i did it.
Wait and see...

Hi
I'm still getting crashes at least once a day.
I really don't know what's going wrong
I get a lots of "response code 3 (NXNAME) from 192.168.0.251, processing aborted "
What are the best practices to use wingate on a W2012 server with ADDS & DNS installed ?
My configuration is
SERVER W2012
- NETWORK 1 (192.168.0.251 / 255.255.255.0 / DNS1 127.0.0.1 / DNS2) ===> Internal network
- NETWORK 2 (192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0 / default 192.168.1.1 / DNS1 & 2 empty) ===> ADSL Box (192.168.1.1)
Wingate DNS Client configuration :
- 127.0.0.1 (OS) checked
- 192.168.1.1 (user input) checked
- Doest it look correct ?
- Is there a way to restart automaticly wingate in case of unexpected shutdown ?
Thanks for answer

HI Damien
in the OS services configuration for the Qbik WinGate Engine you can set it to restart the service if it stops unexpectedly etc.
NXNAME means no such name, and it's not an unusual response, especially for reverse IP lookups. So this is probably not significant.
But as for crashes, do you get any files in the Wingate folder called wingate_crash.....dmp? If so, can you please send them to us at
support@wingate.comRegards

Hi,
I was still experiencing some crashes (every 3 ou 4 days), so I decided to uninstall & reinstall completely wingate 8.2.5...
The result is that wingate crashes every 2 ou 3 mn... ?!
I think (not sure) that it happens when I use a notebook and connect to imap server with outlook. When the notebook is not connected to the network, it seems to work correctly.
I really need a fix for this issue because wingate has just become totally unusable :(
I'm sending dump files by mail.
Best regards,
Damien

I confirm that problems happen only when IMAP4 service is started.

Hi Damien
thanks for sending in the crash dumps. It would also be really helpful if you could do a packet capture on port 143 on the WinGate computer when the crash happens. There must be something the IMAP client in Outlook is doing that the server in WinGate isn't handling.
Another thing you could do is disable some of the options in the IMAP server in WinGate, for instance the COMPRESS extension.
Regards
Adrien
