We are currently looking at transferring to wingate from a different software. However there is a slight problem. Can someone email or tell me the "idoits guide to getting email through wingate"

We have a small network where our domain name and mail box is held at our suppliers sight. eg bigpond, etc. and the emails coming directly to the individual persons. Currently, I have set all the clients up ( we using outlook express) as follows:

1) the mail and smtp server is the address of the external site (this is on all the computers) - this is a pain in the you know where because if there is a change in the mail server, I need to go to the individual computers to fix each computer.

I need the individual computers to point to the computer with wingate acting as a gateway

i dont want to set a wingate smtp server (too difficult)

I need simple sets of instructions

Thanks

Hi Neelesh,

Hector did a good job of explaining the configuration and obviously if you are receiving mail, your halfway there.

Only thing I can suggest is to take a look at the setting for the IP server connection in the SMTP Proxy Server, which is in your Wingate machine, where it says "Outbound server". Make sure that the box above is ticked and in the name for the outbound server, you should have your IP (ISP) server's address; the server that you first connect to on the Internet. It could be anything, but should be something like mine: smtp.cableonline.com.mx Check the first term. As you will see in Hector's setup his is mail. Mine is smtp .... and there are probably others. Port will normally be 25. If you are not sure what it is, give them (ISP) a call and ask for it.

Hope this helps. If you still have problems, come back and I am sure someone will have some suggestions.

Hope all is well in Melbourne (Australia?) I spent a very happy few months there many years ago.

Nothing more.

Regards, Warren
Warren
