Java Enabled Browser

Postby Robbiedoo » Apr 05 04 10:32 pm

Hi

Can someone please tell me what I missed out?

I have 8 PCs running Win98 as clients to the WinGate box (Wingate 5.0.0 on Win98) and everything runs great. I set WWW proxy to require Java authentication, I have users & passwords and all's well.

Then I introduce a WinXP client to the network and it tells me I need a java enabled browser to connect. Have I gone daft? I thought IE6 as provided with XP was Java enabled anyway. The Win98 boxes are already running IE6 without a problem.

Has anyone seen this before? More important, can someone tell me what to do about it?

Thanks for looking.

A couple of things to check. One, look in IE Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level, Scripting and check to see that Active Scripting is checked on. Two, did XP machine come with AV software? I've seen pop up blockers block log on screen, disable if checked and see what happens. Hopefully one of those two!
