Some Problems with Wingate 6.0 www proxy

Postby Prfbrain » May 12 04 3:58 pm

Hi, I'm fairly new to wingate as I downloaded it to basically provide a way around the filtering software at my workplace. I've got everything working great with it except for one issue. I've been testing this with a friend at work and he's able to get to any website, however he's not able to send any data back across the proxy. For example, if he trys to fill a web form out and clicks submit, it will not go through and he'll get an error message. I think he said it was an access denied error. I've tried to comb through the help file but not having much luck there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you setup any specific policies for the WWW Server ? (Authentication, etc.)

Prfbrain,

hav u tried purging cache &/or disabling it? try accessing that form again w/ cache disabled. if that doesnt solve the problem, ignore my other option below.

another option is to enable cache...

then go to "What to cache" tab and tick on "Specify which request..." add a criterion not to cache site that contains .asp (if it's an asp site)
ex.

1) Add Filter: Filter1
2) Add Criterion: This criterion is NOT met if: HTTP URL contains/end with ".asp" (or the site itself)

this manner will prevent the said site from being cached

I do not currently have any policies set for the server. I'm going to give n0ticer's suggestion a try and disabling caching. We'll see what happens from there. Thanks a bunch.

Ok, that didn't seem to be the solution. Still not able to get any data back across the proxy. Couple of examples, when trying to reply to this topic and when just answering a poll on gamespy.com I get the same error.
The error I'm receiving is:

Access Denied

You do not have sufficient rights for access to this resource

I have Wingate running on my home machine which is XP Home, I have everything open that I know of.

I think I may have found part of the problem. The error is only happening in Mozilla Firefox and Opera. If I plug it into IE, I'm able to get all traffic through. I'd prefer not to use IE though since all our work stuff goes through IE and if I put the proxy in we're not able to get in. Just tested it with Opera and it's working as well. Thanks for all the help, I'd prefer to use Firefox but Opera will work.
