I have set 3 minutes to wait before ending up internet connection in Dialer section. However, it seems the only way I am able to keep conncetion alive is through http traffic. With ftp traffic or others, The connection is dropped out every 3 minutes. Can anyone tell how to fix this kind of problem. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Adam
The option in the dialer config in GateKeeper to "discconnect after 180 seconds of inactivity". If there is no traffic going through the modem for a period of three minutes it will hang up.
Any type of traffic (www, ftp, etc) using the dialup interface (in and out) will be seen as activity in WinGate.
Simply untick this to stop the dialer from hanging up after a time out.
Alternatively you can also adjust this to a more suitable time instead of disabling it.

One other thing to consider. On a dial-up interface there are sometimes a form of 'keep alive' traffic from the ISP.
The WinGate Dialer has some settings you can use to take this into account, (Registry keys) so the level of actual activity has to exceed that.

Thanks for your concern to my problem. However, the problem still exists after register value was tweaked. I believe there is something blocks ftp traffic from being monitored by wingate.
Do you think I have to install WGIC to solve this problem.

That is an option, however, I'm fairly sure that any traffic passing through WinGate is counted in the right places. What method do you use to connect through the WinGate Server (Proxy, NAT, etc.) ?

I am using NAT and all proxy services was disabled. However when both actived as default after installation, this problem still exists. I am wondering if this issue has someting to do with my ISDN driver since it is not legacy designed for either modem or ethernet card.

Another strange thing I found this morning is that there is no ftp traffic (TCP port 21) ever recorded in history list. Maybe this is related to my problem?
Thanks,
Adam

Do you see this activity in GateKeeper ? Is it possible that the FTP client / command line FTP / Internet Explorer Settings on the client machine points it somewhere other than the WinGate Server ?

Yes, I found this problem from Gatekeeper. automatic detection is used in IE and no proxy server was sepecifed. Neither it does on my ftp client. However, I believe it is supposed to record ftp traffic no matter either it comes from Proxy or NAT.
Thanks,
Adam

I still can not figure out why on any ftp traffic (TCP port21) can be seen from history record and I am getting convinced that this is root cause to solve internet disconnection issue. Your help defintely is important and appreciated.
