Multi part question(Wingate DNS, Upgrades?, NT uninstall)

Postby adamsane » May 25 04 3:54 am

-Hello All,

I work in a small office and we have been using wingate to share the connection between the office computers for sometime now. A few months back I switched the computer that wingate was running on to a more powerful one. After the switch we have been having alot of problems with Wingate. I have a few questions that I was wondering if you guys can help me with. Please when you reply to the question include the question number or the copied and pasted text.

a) At times Wingate will drop all web traffic through the DSL line and the LAN, if you are allready connected to something (Yahoo messenger, AIM, ect...) you remain connected however if you are trying to establish a new connection you will be blocked. In gatekeeper under the status screen it shows a pending DNS query for each of the entries. To resolve it I have to stop and restart the service, but I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and has fixed it.

b) I was wondering if my license key that I have will work with the new Wingate 6.x when it comes out of beta?

3) The machine that I removed wingate server from now has TCTSRVS.exe running out of control. The processor remains pegged at 100% even after reboots. Is this a file that wingate has modified and corruped durring the uninstall? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you for all of your help.

Hi

When you rebuilt this new server did you put all the new security patches on it?

some ISPs you connect to will infect you with sasser or msblast within a fraction of a second if you don't have a firewall running.

I would check for viruses on this machine.

the TCTSRVS.exe process is not one I have ever heard of.
