Secure websites not working

I have a small network with WinGate 5.2.3 running on an NT 4.0 Server. The clients are trying to connect to secure websites but they are not working. I've tried the suggestion of adding port 443 to the https tab in the WWW proxy but that didn't work. Anything else I can try?

Are you using WWW Proxy or NAT?

If NAT, be sure Port 443 is open.
