limiting traffic

Postby Dassburger » Jun 04 04 9:24 pm

Hello!

Recently we started using WinGate in a small office network. We would like to limit usage of Internet to X Mb/month for each user. Is it possible to do so, that a user cannot use Internet anymore if he exceeds his/her limit? Currently we set the limit in "Opening Balance" entry box in the "Accounting" tab of user's properties. But we're unsure what'll happen if user's balance goes below 0.

Hi,

You can create a policy in the WWW proxy service for the following:
this criterion is NOT met if
user account balance
less than
0

in the user properties you can set a rate to charge per byte, you can work this out to limit the users to the amount of data per month. You can also create a scheduled event to reset the user accounts once a month.

Regards,

Matt
