i think its to do with the firewall is currently set on medium level
i dont understand all this network IP address's stuff, can someone point me to a tutorial or tell me about the subnet masks etc because i think they r essential but i dont know how to use them, can anyone help ?
Well a good place to start would be wingate.com and follow the Support link to KB and FAQ entries.
Otherwise here is a basic framework,
Wingate machine IP say: 192.168.0.1 for the NIC pointing to the client[s], or any private range address of your choice, SM: 255.255.255.0
Check in Wingate's advanced settings that the internal interface [to clients] is trusted whilst an external [dialup/RAS/xDSL etc] one is untrusted [internet].
On the client machine use a similar IP say: 192.168.0.2 / SM: 255.255.255.0 then add a gateway of 192.168.0.1 to this machine's NIC.
Run a command window and ping the server: PING 192.168.0.1 for four solid replies, if ok follow on.
In your web client programs, for NAT select 'Automatically detect proxy' & or Direct connection with the internet. If preferred to point at the proxy directly add the Wingate address and port to the configuration of the program eg: 192.168.0.1 port 80 for WWW proxy.
This is just a rough guide, report back if this doesn't start you off and someone will take it further.
Mention your: Connection type [dialup / cable], IP, O/s and Wingate version also.
After a month trial buy an appropriate licence key to keep using Wingate.
