Ports Wide Open?

In Port Security > Connections from Internet, ports 1024-4096 are set to allow for both TCP and UDP. I am new to port security but why would this be necessary? There are no severs on the LAN. Would this have been to allow FTP on one of the workstations?

These ports are left open primarily to allow FTP clients to run on WIngate machine in active mode. One of the future releases will have improved driver support so this range will not be necessary in the future.
