WinGate 5.2.2 Cant downlaod a signle file throught FTP :(

Postby rayden5_ » Feb 05 04 11:16 pm

Hi,

i have a very ipmortnant problem for me: since we use WinGate as Proxy-Server and i cant downlaod a file per FTP anymore !

Everytime i try to download some file from a ftp link (ft_p://bla.com/whatever.exe) by using the HTTP Proxy on Port 8080 *EVERY* download got interuppted after some random bytes are transmitted (e.g. after 22MB of 31Mb, other time after 1,5MB of 2,2).

This happens to every file and i really need some advice on how to fix this since its important for usto downlaod files from FTP.
I dont have any problems with downlaods when they are linked as htt_p://whatever.exe , it only happens when webpages linking files with ftp.

I already treid to connect with the FTP Proxy of WinGHate (port 21) but I only get "220 Wingate FTP Proxy Ready" Message....:(

Anyone with same Problems and maybe solutions :-?

Thx

Yes, see the topic "download fails at 75%" where others including me have the same thing.

Unfortunately qbik have not bothered to reply. We can not continue with this fault and will be forced to change software if this continues.

Alright, found the problem and fixed it. This is the case if you are using IE through an HTTP specified proxy. It only seems to occur with versions of IE prior to 6.0 (6 tries port 21 for FTP proxying)

So there are several alternatives available:

1. Wait for WinGate 5.2.3 which will include the fix (And is due out soon)
2. Remove the FTP proxy entry from your proxy configuration and let it NA
T directly (Temporarily, until fix becomes available)
3. Configure it to use port 21 for the FTP proxy (And thus bypass FTP through HTTP)

I'm having the same problem. I think it is not a very good habit to know about this problem and to still recommend the download of this version without any warnings etc.!!! When I downloaded this version (5.2.2) the problem was obviously allready known! A warning would have kept me from installing it and would have kept my users beeing able to make FTP-downloads!!!
I read in some posting that the new version was announced for LAST week. Well, I did not find it anywhere. Is there an offical release date by now???
Is it possible to roll back to version 4 by just installing the old version. Will my settings be kept?

I am having the same problem too in downloading files and browsing FTP sites. If you browse an FTP site through Wingate, it displays only partial list of files. The same through with downloading. Files that were downloaded were mostly corrupted.

I am mirroring an FTP sites of Network Associates Inc. on a weekly basis to update antivirus files for our organization. Everything works fine until i upgraded my Wingate to version 5.2.2. The error logs from the mirroring activity report says "it cannot find the file specified" when you try to run download.

I hope the Qbik guys can have a fix very soon on this bug.
