Windows XP, Wingate 5.2.2 and Java

Postby PALWalrus » Feb 10 04 4:44 am

Since installing Wingate 5.2.2 my children have not been able to connect to Pogo to play games. When entering a game the system appears to attempt to load for a long period of time then eventually gets a Java page up saying that there is a problem with the Java installation.

I have tried this on all PCs in the house and get the same message on all of them. The only thing that appears to have changed is Wingate.

Is there a fix for this? Have I misinstalled? Is there any way that I can trace the problem?

This is the same problem I described in an earlier post on Feb. 09: Wingate and zone.msn.com games. I found that these Java games do work if the client PC is connected directly to the internet without passing through Wingate 5.2.2. The games also run just fine on the Wingate server PC if its internet access is configured to go right to the internet and not through the loopback.
