WIngate 5.2.2 and RealRadio

Postby PALWalrus » Feb 12 04 4:40 am

Since installing Wingate 5.2.2 I have not been able to get Realradio to work at all. This may be related to the Java issue that I already reported.

Is there somewhere that I can download a version of Wingate before 5.2.2. I had 5.0.7 working faultlessly before so was unwilling to change due to problems with VPN connection everytime I tried to update previously, now VPN connections work for me, but A LOT of other features are not working.

This is installed on a XP Pro system using ENS.

In what way will Real Radio not work? Are you going via the RTSP proxy? Via NAT? Is the connection being TR'd? Can you connect to other websites with Real Player and listen to streamed content?

Using ENS/NAT, no connections are going through now. Work if I bypass the proxy...through the existing cable modem connection on the proxy server. As soon as I connect through Wingate it looks like it is trying to connect, then suddenly, nothing happens...

Sorry, i'm slightly confused. WHen you say bypassing the proxy, do you mean by passing WinGate totally, or do you mean by passing the RTSP proxy and using NAT? Does the icon that appears in Gatekeepers activity screen look like a little speaker or is it purple and blue? have you tried the direct RTSP proxy connection? How is Real (radio) player configured?

By bypassing the proxy I mean just using IE on the server. This is not configured to go through the proxy at all, rather straight to the internet via the cable modem connection.

The configuration of RealPlayer has not altered between the releases of Wingate and is just using ENS/NAT, but now the connection does not appear to complete. I see the handshaking occurring, then if I check Gatekeeper there is no session active...

Just rolled back to Wingate 5.0.7 and, without changing any configuration on the client pc this is working fine now. I am using ENS on both installations and not doing anything special to configure it on the client PC.
