windows 2000 advance server as RAS using wingate 5.2.2

Postby eric » Feb 13 04 7:33 am

hi there,

I'm using a windows 2k advanced server with wingate 5.2.2. The question is how i would configure the server to accept incoming calls and connect it to the internet.

In my current set-up, the windows is already accepting calls but the caller has to setup use proxy to be able to browse the internet. And everytime the dial in user do this upon logging in the next day or so, the dial in system would ask for a username, password and logon domain. We don't have a domain. Any solution please? Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong: you want to use dialin to allow client connection to the internet?

At the moment, you have to stop and restart the engine after the initial connection is established in order to make Wingate see the new interface and then mark it as private and trusted.

Eric,

I did it with wingate 5.0.7, I was in the same predicament as you are now, trying to direct the traffic of the RRAS dialin to use the wingate server automatically without doing anything on the client, I set it up with wingate ENS nat support and modifing the extended networking parameters so the dialin client get the wingate caching benefit too.
Now I am trying to make wingate work with bandwidth controller to shape the traffic alittle.

hope this helps
