have to reset wingate 5.2.2 everymorning

Postby eric » Feb 13 04 7:36 am

hi there,

I have to reset the wingate 5.2.2 everymorning because the server is not functioning at all witht he clients. Also, the server is not asking any authentication from the WGIC which causes the lack of connection bet. the server and the client even though you can see the icon for the wingate connection on the status window. Any suggestions please.

Probably I suggest: Stop Wingate engine, drill down to the program directory
\program files\wingate and delete the history.dbf & history.cdx files.

Please report back either way...

nev,

I've tried this and for the rest of the day everything was well but on the next morning when I open my computer the WGIC prompted me that it cannot find the server upong choosing yes to look for other server it will prompt me that it seems that I have to restart the wingate server. Upong doing this, everything is well again.

Ok Eric, try removing some or all of the logging from the services, [WWW, POP3 etc] and see if that eases the problem.

Can you report back the memory usage from the Task Manager also that could be of interest.

Nev,

I'll try removing some of the logs that you've mentioned probably I'll just leave the winsock redirector log and the www log. By the way the memory usage is 253944K / 1519760K

Whoa Eric, my system now is Wingate: 14,952 GK: 4125kb [only on for 2 hours though]. Maybe others will know if this is a problem.

How is the cache, lots of files?

Version of Wingate?

Plugin[s]?

Cheers,
Nev.

The system cache of the server is 115588kb. I'm currently using Wingate 5.2.2 version. The server is not supporting any plugins. Thanks

G'day Eric,

Is the host responding to a ping at this time? Does it respond to proxy requests at all?

Does NAT resolve remote hosts? eg: ping yahoo.com from the client?

I'd look to re install Wingate just in case and add/remove WGIC on the client too.

Put Service Packs into the server maybe?

Good Day Nev,

I've tried removing some of the logging features of the proxies and services that I'm not using.

Fortunately, this morning I didn't have to restart the engine of the wingate. Hope that things will work well from now on.

Yes, I can ping outside using the client.

Thanks for you help

Great Eric well that is a start!

By any chance is GateKeeper logged in with the history tab in view for long periods, this can cause memory utilisation.
