Remote Control Service Timeout

Postby maznos » Feb 16 04 10:28 am

I have setup the Remote Control Service to timeout in 1000 sec. but when any user uses other proxy services it always disconnect after that time while user uses the proxy services and he have to relogin again. and when i remove the timeout it continue to count seconds online without any activities for other services.

i am asking how can i automatically disconnect any inactive user from the remote control service after a timeout of non usage of other services, for example if there is a user forgot to disconnect from java client and no app uses internet, how do I make wingate disconnect him from the remote control automatically so no more time counting.

Any Service will only timeout if there is no activity for it. The Remote Control Service is used for GateKeeper, so ANY activity on WinGate will keep that connection alive.

It sounds as if you are using Java Authentication for your users. As a side thought, you could switch that and use GateKeeper as an authentication tool. With proper policy management, your users can then use GateKeeper as they currently are and they are authenticated because of the Remote Control Session link. Closing GateKeeper releases their authentication then (Unless they have other sessions open, but once those close they will go as well)

thanks for reply.

to make things eazier for my users is java which is a fantastic idea to save time. no installations no additional applications.

so if there is anyway to help controlling the remote control service timeout through the other services this will help.

for example if there is a function that follows other activities and provide timeout to terminate remote control service session if the other services are not used for a specific time, I guess this will help alot.

my problem is my users using the services from many pcs at the same time so they forget sometimes to logoff and the counter is counting all the night.

can you put this as a new future in your upcoming editions of your software.

my best regards
