enforce WWW proxy service

Postby Sean123 » Feb 18 04 3:46 am

I uses Wingate 5.0.2 on Windows NT 4.0 as internet gateway (192.168.0.1). In network configuration all workstations use 192.168.0.1 as gateway. No workstation uses wingate client.

My question is related to WWW proxy:

I need control internet browsing. It worked fine before, that is, no workstation can browse internet until in IE the proxy is set to 192.168.0.1:80. But one day the restriction just disappeared. Now any LAN computer can browse internet, and if the proxy is not used, the browsing activity is not recorded by either Wingate log or real-time monitoring.

How can I enforce people to use WWW proxy service?

Thank you!

It sounds as if you have ENS installed. If that is the case open the WWW Service and switch to the "Sessions" tab. There is a switch there for "Redirect ENS and WGIC sessions". If this is checked any traffic going through the WWW Service's port (80 in the default case) is hooked and will pass through the proxy.

You should then see all the logs and history.
