Wingate license agreement?

Postby kracht1978 » Feb 20 04 5:29 am

This may be a stupid question, however, we are experiencing a lot of lock up with our older version of wingate. I know there is a newer version available that may fix some of our problems. I was wondering if Wingate will automaticly turn itself off if more users than we have licenses for all request use of the internet at the same time? We have six licenses and our company is slowly growing. It may be time for us to purchase more licenses but I wanted to see if that might be the root of our problem before I present it to the higher ups.

We are running Win2000 and Wingate is shutting down or locking up about once a day. Sometimes it stays online and will not allow connections to the internet. Sometimes it goes offline and all we have to do is reconnect.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there

What version of WinGate are you running?

If you have an early Ver 4. licence you can upgrade to 5.22 however some of the new features such as the email server will not be available.

WinGate uses one licence place for the WinGate server and will only let the remaining amount of users in the licence to access the Internet through WinGate. So for instance a six user licence will allow 5 client machines to access the Internet at a time (as one will be used by the WinGate Server).

There have been a large amount of continous improvements in functionality with WinGate which allows for better handling of system resources and traffic handling which may help with the lockups you are experiencing

For more info on licencing and the new version of WinGate features etc check out our website.
