FTP Problems - Works on some, not on others?

Postby Cyclone » Feb 21 04 7:53 am

I seem to be having an issue with connecting to certain FTP sites via NAT.

Out of roughly 20 FTP sites I connect to - 3 of them seem to have a problem when trying to bring up the directory listing on the host machine (Time's out).

I am not using the Firewall in Wingate - this is completely disabled.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks

Hi Cyclone:

Go take a look at: http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=919&sid=5bef0d0b9794fc55d8d6aeba38e87563 and see if any of this discussion looks similar to your situation. If it is, then you will see that it is being worked on.

Hi Cyclone,

Pleased to be able to assist. For what it is worth, one thing you can think about, is that I AM using the WinGate Firewall and I still have these difficulties. You mentioned in a previous message that you had disabled yours. So I guess that the Firewall isn't the problem. Better to activate your defenses and avoid any intruders getting into your system. It amazes me when I monitor the Firewall Panel in WinGate, just how much activity there is. I'm sure that some of it is legitimate, but there is also a great deal of probing going on; for whatever reason. About a month back, I found an address that looked real foreign and when I tracert'ed it, I ended up somewhere in China. I sure don't have any cousins that live there, so I guess I was being checked out for invasion purposes.

Let's see what the Backroom Boys at Qbik come up with in the coming days, for the FTP situation.

Nothing more.

Regards, Warren

I agree with having some defences ... I use BlackICE (Had that before I got Wingate ... Yeah it is amazing to see the amount of attempts to get into our network we get, not to mention all the port scans.
