Total TCP/IP failure after upgrading to 5.2.3 on win98

Postby xilt » Feb 26 04 10:11 am

After upgrading to the latest version, I can only make ICMP pings with the server, all connections fail. It has to be in the ENS driver because of I install with an outdated registration key, the ENS engine is not loaded and everything works fine.....Totally shutting down the wingate also works...
as soon as the wingate engine is started, no connections can be made, not from/on the server or from a client.
Im running wingate on a pentium 233MMX on Win98 first edition and never had lots of problems with all previous versions of wingate including ENS and VPN. My NIC's are a 3c509 coax and a RTL8019.
Please provide me with some help...

Not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean when WinGate is running on the server no outbound connections can be made (expect ICMP)? ALso what do you mean by 'outdated registration key'? You have the ENS installed correct? And it shows up in Gatekeeper as 'Installed and Active'? Do you get any firewall hits when your connections are blocked?

Regards

I mean when I register the software with a trial key that has expired, the ENS engine will not load and I will not encounter the bug. When I use the registration number of the company, the ENS engine is "installed and active" but then "all internet totally stops".
With that I mean that the server cannot make any succelfull outside connection on the external NIC (so around/outside the wingate). I can make local connections on the internal NIC: I can telnet to other local machines. But I cannot make any outgoing connections on the externel NIC with the server. Not even a DNS lookup, though I can ping my ISP's DNS server.
When I shutdown the ENS engine, I can do everything on the net, DNS, browse, serve oldfashioned proxy to clients....

I hope this makes more sense.
