After reconnect...cannot browse

Postby keeper30 » Oct 07 03 11:40 pm

I used wingate 5.0.7, OS Windows server 2003, and 56kb dial up. When I first connect to my ISP, everything is fine...but after every disconnection of the line and of course...it will redial or reconnect again. After connected, when i browse to the internet explorer or opera, the message is "Could not Connect Remote Server". In short, i cannot browse... Pls help me about this problem or any idea what happen...

thanks & more power

we have been seeing this lately - it is called the "phantom adapter" problem.

What happens is that XP and 2003 create a new dialup physical interface object every time the system dials. Problem with that, is that there is a problem with hook drivers when it comes to closing these - other firewall software has a similar problem.

We are looking into a remedy for this.

We found it!

We have a fix available soon, but in the mean time, if you go into GateKeeper->ENS settings->Firewall and uncheck the option "disable name broadcasts to the Internet" then it will stop doing this.

As usual...it didn't work. I tried to uncheck the option "disable name broadcasts to the Internet" but the situation was the same.

have you tried the latest 5.0.10?

We did a few things on this fix - the original fix was released in 5.0.9, but broke something else, so 5.0.10 should be good.
