virus?

Postby st956703 » Mar 02 04 3:08 pm

My anti-virus scanner pops up with this virus.
c:\program files\wingate\cache\00002ZA4.wgc\MaConnell.dll

the scanner calls it:
Trojan horse : Downloader.lstbar.V : Infected,Embedded object

It's not listed anywhere, manual deletion is possible, the file comes back.

any ideas?

It sounds as if that is a file that has been added to the WinGate cache because of web surfing that one of your users has done. Are you running Kaspersky AntiVirus for WinGate at all ? This one of the scenarios that it is designed to protect you against.

Alternatively, it could be a spreading infection that is copying itself across your network, but that depends on the trojan itself (So it's technical information might give you more clues)

As to removal, try stopping the WinGate engine before removing it with your normal AntiVirus package.
