Caching question / Security risk?

Postby 17Spots » Mar 20 04 1:21 pm

I have caching enabled on my Wingate box. We have new users who frequently access yahoo mail. Caching seems to be remembering previous user signons. So when person "A" signs in, checks their mail and leaves and later person "B" goes to yahoo (from a different box) yahoo assumes it is still person "A". Obviously this could pose a problem.

Purging the cache files solves the problem, until the next two users access it. 2 Daily purges are currently scheduled. If increase the number of purges that seems to fly in the face of using caching at all.

Is there a setting i'm missing in caching to differentiate by user so this doesnt happen?

Thanks for any help in advance,
F.L.

Specs:
Win2K
Wingate 5.2.2 (I know there is a 5.2.3)
15 clients
Users are using WGIC for logging purposes. Wingate has a static IP.

Hi there

As a suggestion you could try the filters under the "What to cache" tab in the Caching Config in GateKeeper.
Select the "specify which requests will be cached"
You will have to create filter and give it criterion
Make sure the "This criterion is NOT met radio button"
Then add a filter with the criterion "Http URL contains Yahoo"

This way everything will be cached except for URLs that contain the word
Yahoo.

Hope this helps
