SMTP Log writes direct delivery failures in different ways

Oct 10 03 5:58 pm

Hi,

This is not a major issue as mail does get delivered but it would be nice from a consistancy point of view to have a standard way of writing (in the SMTP log) that an email has been forwarded to the designated mail gateway (if that is indeed the setting) when direct delivery has failed.

For example,

MAIL.COM will only accept smtp connections from servers that have permanent ip addresses. I have a dynamic ip address and receive the following error:

Requested: SMTP In: mail from xxxx@bigpond.net.au to xxxx@mail.com (4kb)

Thanks for this, i'll have a look in to it. It may be a difference in the responce code that we are getting, one is a rejection, one is not a connection.
