HELP ON WINGATE CONFIGURATION

Postby mahir23 » Apr 21 04 12:40 am

hi,

Im having alot of trouble configuring my wingate. I have two laptops and a pc with windows xp on it. I have a wireless g router and a normal rj 45 switch. I have a DSL connection on my pc through a PCI modem (which is without any output to be connected directly to the router). My PC and one of my Laptops have wifi.

What i have to do is share my DSL and my Files on my pc with the two laptops, which connect through both ,the wireless g router and the switch. I cant get to configure my wingate correctly. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!. Thank you

PS need help badly...:(

Hi there

I take it You have your LAN setup and your machines can all communicate correctly via TCP/IP. (Machines should all have ther own internal IP address. etc.)

Simplest way to get WinGate up and running is to point the Gateway and DNS entries of the client machines (found in their network properties) to the internal IP address of the PC running WinGate.

As per the WinGate Helpfile, this will allow the client PC's to use NAT(Network Address translation) method of connection through WinGate to the Internet.

There should be a dial up profile associated with your DSL modem connection and this should be listed in the dialer config of Gatekeeper. Enable this connection, as per the WinGate helpfile instructions and WinGate will use it whenever a client makes an Internet request.

Hope this helps

Regards
