Accesing my wingate services remotely

Postby javila » Apr 24 04 10:21 am

Hi to all.
I've located an free DNS server to publish my server (http://viscarra.serveftp.com) most of the services works fine except for two:

1. The logfile server has java authentication and when I try to acces the server fromanother pc/conection correctly ask me for the java authentication but the java window does not finish to load and does not shows me the log:/pass: fileds that usually draws on that window.

2. I have created another domain in my email server (besides my 'viscarra.net' is another called 'viscarra.serve.ftp.com' and I have asigned to all the users that domain to deliver on them mailboxes...etc etc. When I connect via modem in another location and with another ISP I can sen and recive emails, but when I try to do that being connected to the local LAN (on the WG server LAN) I can't, what is wrong?

3. This one is out of topic... what is the difference in use or not use the 'transparent redirection" check box on the WWW service?

Thanks in advance.

Javier,

I can only answer number 3.

Transparent Redirection intercepts packets sent to the WinGate server on what ever port the service (in the case of WWW Proxy - port 80) uses and directs them to the service.

For example: If a client does not use WGIC or have IE set up to use a proxy, the packets would still be sent to the WWW Proxy.

This allows a minimum configuration on the client (WG as default gateway) while still enjoying the benefits of the WWW Proxy such as Anti-Virus, Policies, Puresight, etc.

Thanks Larry,

And you know what are the disadvantages?

Regards.

I would expect running just NAT would be faster and create less processing load on the system.

Other than that - nothing that I can think of.
